Educational Technology Tool No. 1: Khan Academy
With Khan Academy, students can foster self-directed learning by being able to learn at their own pace. You can find many different explanations, activities, and videos on this website categorized according to the subject, grade level, or topic. Through this website, students can learn topics at their own pace, check their understanding, and ask questions without immediate help from teachers. Independent learning is possible since they can track their progress. In addition to level track, it allows teachers to keep track of the progress of their students.
Educational Technology Tool No. 2: Quizlet
Digital flashcards can help students develop self-directed learning skills. By repeating the practice exercises and setting personal goals, students will become more reflective about the content, improving their ability to comprehend and learn it. (The Digital Teacher, n.d.
Assistive technology:
Educational Technology Tool No. 1: Coda
As students view digital text, talking text allows them to hear what they see aloud. The students gain knowledge of words they may not be able to say or understand by hearing and seeing them. By repeating the words, the student can learn how to place them correctly in a sentence. It is possible for students who have trouble keeping up with written notes to use technology to type their notes. In addition, the student can speak into the device, and whatever they say will appear on the page through Coda. This helps students meet their academic goals and fosters independent learning and self-direction. Students are taking action by learning the goals set for them.
Educational Technology Tool No. 3: MathTalk
An application developed for assisting students with math-related courses, this is a speech recognition program. Learners can perform math problems by speaking them into a microphone-enabled computer, starting from pre-algebra to Ph.D. level mathematics. Students who struggle with texting can find this app a very useful option because of its voice-to-text capabilities Computer operations would otherwise require fine motor skills. Assisting these students levels the playing field and allows them to achieve on par with their classmates. (TeachThought, 2019)
