A3 Learning Activity
A3 Learning Activity
The purpose of this sample lesson is to teach students what being a good digital citizen entails. Formative and summative assessments will demonstrate that students are competent in using the Internet to communicate with others in their school, community, and at home by the end of the lesson.
ISTE Standard for Students #2 - Digital Citizen: Understanding the rights, obligations, advantages, and disadvantages of living and participating in a digital world - is directly aligned with this activity.
Teacher will first discuss general topics with all students in a group setting. The question posed will be: "How can students be good digital citizens both at school and at home?" Tablets will be used to record the students' answers.
After that, the teacher will show a YouTube video that discusses good online behavior.
A teacher will supply some questions for students to discuss after watching the video. In order to gauge where the student understands the topic, this exercise will serve as a formative assessment for the teacher. Based on this formative assessment, the teacher can determine whether the lesson has been effective or if it needs to be adjusted.
In addition, students will be required to create a Powerpoint presentation explaining why digital citizenship is important. Among the information that should be included in the PowerPoint is:
- How do good digital citizens respond to the challenges they face?
- How do good digital citizens behave?
- What are the ways in which good digital citizens behave If they feel unsafe?
Class discussion will follow the presentation of the student's final PowerPoint.
Toward the end of the lesson, the teacher will play a fun game of Kahoot! That has digital citizenship questions. Students' answers will be gathered through Kahoot!
Students will be able to immediately get feedback on what they need to study before tests with an evaluation that is graded immediately. The computer grades the kahoots answers, so I can easily retrieve that information so I am able to keep an eye on their progress.
